Step 1: Prime your eyes
Apply eye shadow primer onto the entire lid from lash line to the brow bone and also under your eyes with fingertips. It helps to prevent your base and shadow settling into fine lines and allows the makeup to stay longer. The primer also helps your shadow to blend smoothly and prevents discoloration on the lid.
Step 2: Concealer
Use concealer on the entire lid and under the eyes with a concealer brush or base brush, blend evenly. To neutralize any shadow, blend a creamy concealer with thicker consistency which prevents it from setting into the creases. Later, use a fluffy brush to tap a translucent powder that matches your skin tone on your lid and under eye area. This will give you a perfect base for the eye shadow and also helps it to blend smoothly on the lids.
Step 3: Apply eye shadow
Fill your entire eyelid with black eyeliner. This helps intensify the smokiness and makes your shadow stays longer. Pat black eye shadow on top of the liner. Gently drag the color into your crease and blend using the shadow brush in the windshield manner. Then, use a small angled brush to apply the shadow along your lower lash line. Your smoky shade doesn’t necessarily have to be black. While choosing colors, you should always choose colors that will accentuate your eyes. Figuring out exactly where to place eye shadow is the tricky part of Smokey eye when you use shades other than black. You can also go with the colors like- gray, navy, shimmery brown, forest green, which will all add an element of surprise to your look.
Step 4: Smudge it out
Smudge the eye shadow on the top and bottom lash line to prevent the harsh Lin using the Q- tip or smudging brush. Smudge and smoke out the lines by layering a powder shadow on top. Continue gently blending out the edges. Concentrate blending shadow outwards at the outer corner of your eye and an inner corner.
Step 5: Add eyeliner
Add dark eyeliner along your lash line and bottom waterline to give more definition, making sure the lines meet at the outer corner of the eye. This will add intensity and more drama to your smoky eye.
Step 6: Highlight
Blend a shimmery highlighter along your brow bone and over the inner “V” corner of eyes by using a small flat brush. This will make your eye look wider and a little more open.
Step 7: Add Mascara
Apply your favorite voluminous mascara on your top and lower lashes. This will complete your smoky eye with lush, long and thick lashes. Add no more than two coats of mascara to avoid clamping and an unnatural appearance.
Wipe out the fallouts on your face with wet wipes. Complete the full-face makeup and you are ready to rock your smoky eye makeup look.
